Membership and Outreach
The Membership and Outreach Committee is responsible for leading SCI’s efforts to grow, engage, and support its membership while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization. The committee oversees SCI communications, social media, website, and newsletter content, and works to strengthen connections among members through outreach strategies, events, and initiatives. In partnership with the Board, Executive Director, and other committees, Member Outreach develops and implements strategies to expand membership, ensure representation from diverse backgrounds, and foster a welcoming and inclusive community.
Key tasks may include:
Developing and implementing strategies to grow, retain, and diversify SCI membership.
Advising the Board on membership trends, diversity efforts, and recommended strategies.
Creating and managing content for SCI communications, including social media, newsletters, and website updates.
Planning events, webinars, and initiatives that promote engagement, equity, and inclusion.
Conducting surveys and collecting data to assess member needs and inform future initiatives.
Collaborating with other SCI committees to ensure consistent messaging, inclusive practices, and alignment with organizational goals.
Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) is responsible for providing oversight and substantive guidance for all other PD activities. Tasks could include:
- Conduct an annual (or biennial) survey of the membership to elicit PD interests.
- Conduct an annual review of PD activities and provide a report to the Board with recommendations.
- Plan and execute webinars.
- Plan and execute Pre-Conference Workshops
The Committee will coordinate, as necessary, with the Board, Executive Director, and Program Committee to ensure a broad range of PD events throughout the year.
Program
The Program Committee assists in the development of the program for SCI’s annual conference in a given year. The Program Committee consults with the Executive Director on conference budgeting. It also provides periodic reports to the SCI Board on its progress and vision for the conference.
