Annual Meeting Volunteers

SCI is looking for Student and PostDoc Members to serve as Meeting Volunteers at the 2025 Annual Meeting in Detroit, Michigan May 13-16, 2025.

Each accepted volunteer will be required to work 11-13 hours during the course of the meeting. Complimentary meeting registration will be offered in exchange for volunteer hours. Applicants must be current Student member of SCI.

Applications will be accepted beginning on February 15th at 10:00 am MST, 12pm EST. Applicants will be required to indicate their top 12 time preferences for volunteering. Positions are limited and fill quickly. We encourage you to plan in advance your preferred options and to make sure your membership is current. Applicants will be notified by March 15, 2025 of their involvement in the program.

Position Descriptions:

Directional Lead
Responsible for familiarizing yourself and directing participants to session rooms in different areas of the hotel in between session times.

Floater
The purpose of this position is to fill in when additional help is needed or to complete any tasks that may come up. Possible tasks could include crowd control, directing traffic during breaks, etc.

Name Tags
Responsible for helping prepare the name tags for registrants.

Poster Session Setup and Take Down
Responsible for helping with set up, take down and directing presenters and participants of poster sessions.

Registration Desk
Responsible for registration set up and member check in.

Session/Plenary Room Monitors
Monitor Plenary, Abstract Concurrent, Invited, and Lunchtime Sessions during the meeting Monday-Friday. Serve as a point of contact for session chairs should they need assistance and conduct multiple room counts throughout the session.

Shortcourse Registration Desk
Shortcourses will be held on Tuesday, May 13th.  Volunteers will be responsible to checking in and directing participants.
